Aviation Institute of Maintenance or AIM offers a wide range of Airframe & Powerplant programs. It presently has 11 aviation maintenance schools that are located in 9 different states. 

The Aviation Institute of Maintenance was founded in 1969 at Norfolk, Virginia. Since then, Aviation Institute of Maintenance is growing in every aspect and expanding its various aviation career schools. Moreover, the institute is a member of a successful group of companies. 

Accreditation 

Aviation Institute of Maintenance is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). It is authorized as a proprietary institute of higher education by the U.S Department of Education. In addition, the training programs offered by AIM are approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Aviation Institute of Maintenance offers financial assistance to its students in the form of state, federal, and/or private funds, grants, student loans, local or state workforce training programs, scholarships, etc. The financial aid is provided to those students who qualify. 

The various financial assistance programs, offered by AIM, are federal Pell grant, Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), federal direct student loans, scholarships, Workforce Investment Act - Opportunity Inc., payment plans, rehabilitative services, state grants or loans, etc. In order to apply for any one of these programs, students must fill up the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). 

Besides these, Aviation Institute of Maintenance offers military tuition assistance and veteran benefits to active duty military personnel, veterans, and reservists. They accept the GI Bill. Moreover, all campuses of AIM are recognized by their own State Approving Agencies for Veteran’s Education and Training.

Career Services 

Aviation Institute of Maintenance offers career services to its students and graduates, in order to assist them in finding the right career path. 

However, they do not guarantee a job placement. Some of the career services provided by them include resume writing, interview coaching and mock interviews, interview attire, job search strategies, etc. The institute occasionally brings employers to the campus and arranges interviews with the students who are about to graduate.

Aircraft Dispatcher 

The Aircraft Dispatcher is a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved course. It prepares students to sit for the FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Written, Oral, and Practical Certification Examinations that lead to issuing an Aircraft Dispatcher license. 

The curriculum includes the study of federal aviation regulations, airline communications procedures and requirements, navigation and aircraft navigation systems, emergency and abnormal procedures, air traffic control systems and procedures, meteorology and aviation weather services, practical dispatch applications, and B737NG aircraft systems, performance and limitations.

After completing this program, students can get various job positions as flight dispatchers, crew planners, crew schedulers, meteorology assistants, navigation database specialists, ramp control tower agents, airport flight operations agents, and many other flight operation positions. 

Students can also get to work with other airline experts, such as crew schedulers and planners, senior dispatch managers, maintenance controllers and meteorologists, etc. They are required to plan, manage, perform, delay, terminate, and sustain ‘Positive Operational Control’ of the flight schedules and airline fleet.

Aviation Maintenance Technician Helicopter (AMTH)

In this program, students learn about the fundamentals of aircraft mechanics and the intricacies of rotary and fixed-wing aircraft. They receive knowledge and hands-on training about helicopter flight control systems, rotary wing aerodynamic principles, rotor systems, helicopter engines, preventative maintenance, and so much more. 

Applicants learn how to troubleshoot and fix aircraft systems efficiently and properly. Moreover, students are prepared to sit for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) examination and in turn become certified Airframe and Powerplant Technicians in the field of aviation maintenance.

Aviation Maintenance Technical Engineer (AMTE)

This course teaches the fundamentals of aircraft mechanics and the latest technology advancements in the world of aviation. Students gain knowledge and learn hands-on techniques in areas like sheet metal, composite fabrication and repair, hydraulics, instrumentation, pneumatics, landing gear, turbine engines, piston, and other aircraft systems. 

They will learn how to troubleshoot and repair rotary and fixed-wing aircraft systems efficiently and properly: in addition to knowledge about aircraft electrical systems and advanced aircraft electronics (avionics). 

Students are qualified to take the FCC Element One and Element Three licensing examination, and FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification examination.

Avionics Technician Program 

This course is for people who already have some experience or training in aircraft electronic repair or maintenance. The program is designed to prepare students to make a career in the field of aviation electronics and aircraft electrical systems, repair and troubleshooting. 

Besides this, they can land job positions as avionics technicians, aircraft electric systems specialists, avionics electronics technicians, avionics installers, avionics managers, avionics systems integration specialists, aviation electronics technicians, aviation electrical technicians, avionics testers, and Avionics Electrical Technician (AET).

Aviation Institute of Maintenance cost

The 2022 tuition & fees of Aviation Institute of Maintenance - Fremont (Aviation Institute of Maintenance - Fremont) are $ 16,757 for their students. Its undergraduate tuition and fees is a little bit lower than the average amount of similar schools’ tuition ($19,642 - private (for-profit)).
