Preventive maintenance for automotive facilities and equipment

Preventive maintenance means: Keeping equipment and facilities in satisfactory operation through systematic inspections leading to the detection and elimination of incipient failures before they occur or become serious. Develop care and maintenance deficiencies performed by personnel for the purpose of maintaining conditions. Maintenance includes testing, measuring, adjusting, and also replacing parts, which is specifically performed to make sure failures will not occur.

The ultimate goal of maintenance is to avoid or minimize the impact of equipment failure. This is achieved by proactively preventing breakdowns through planned care and condition-based maintenance. By replacing worn parts before they fail, you will be able to maintain and restore equipment reliability. A partial or complete overhaul, oil change, and lubrication should be included in preventive maintenance activities at some specific times.

In addition, staff can log equipment failures to know how to repair broken parts before a system failure occurs. A proper preventive maintenance program will help you prevent most equipment failures before they happen.

All vehicles need preventative maintenance

Preventive maintenance can be applied in various ways, including our bodies (healthcare-related), mouths (proper dental care), buildings, equipment and machines (vehicles). In healthcare, regular checks, vaccinations, and various testing procedures are considered preventative maintenance. For dentists, regular x-rays, examinations, tooth cleaning and polishing, and sealing are considered preventative maintenance. On the outside of a house or building, cleaning siding, concrete, gutters, roofing, sealing, and painting are considered preventative maintenance. The list of examples can be freely continued.

Appropriate preventive maintenance of vehicles

In our cars, fluids serve to protect the systems they run on. One of the most important maintenance points for your vehicle is keeping these fluids clean, complete, and uncontaminated to maintain an adequate level of protection. Preventive maintenance includes regular vehicle checking, periodic fluid changing before they get dirty, and changing fluids based on age and mileage.

Preventative maintenance fixes the source of the leak before it causes low-level problems with leaking fluid. Preventive maintenance involves regularly checking fluids for contaminants that prevent them from properly lubricating, cooling, and regulating the vehicle's systems they are designed to protect.

Our vehicles have other systems that require preventative maintenance.

  • Tire: Rotate regularly, check tire pressure, and inflate to specification.
  • Wheel alignment: Check for proper wheel alignment at least once a year and perform as needed.
  • Follow the manufacturer's instructions for spark plug and cable replacement to replace these items.
  • PCV valve, fuel, air, and cabin air filter: Inspect and replace at least once a year.
  • Throttle body and injectors: Inspect and clean at least every two years.
  • Belts, hoses, idler pulleys, tensioners: Inspect regularly and replace when deterioration begins, or every 60,000 miles (timing belts should be replaced according to the manufacturer's recommendations based on age or mileage, whichever comes first).
  • Brake & Clutch: Regularly check for leaks, material and drum action and friction, and rotor runout and thickness.
  • Suspension: Regularly check for looseness or leaks and lubricate where available.

Implementation of a preventive maintenance program

The Preventive Maintenance Program (PMP) includes regular vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs to prevent potential problems and maximize vehicle uptime. Preventive care aims to proactively avoid or reduce vehicle breakdowns dependent on weather, mileage, hours of operation, or fuel consumption. Preventative maintenance includes all the parts of maintenance progress like vehicle inspection, lubrication, adjustment, cleaning, testing, repair, and/or replacement of worn parts.

Why should I care about preventive maintenance?

To maximize vehicle availability, PMP services should be run regularly. Without regular preventative maintenance, the life of your vehicle will be significantly shortened. Some vehicles are prone to excessive breakdowns requiring costly repairs, which can interfere with the smooth running of the school by making the vehicle unavailable when you least expect it, perhaps when you need it most. There is. A lack of PMP can make your vehicle unsafe. Proper maintenance also helps avoid lawsuits due to negligence.

A preventative maintenance program is just as important as a driver safety program. The company may be liable for negligent consignment if the vehicle becomes unsafe due to a lack of maintenance or repair. At G1, we understand the liability that arises when employees are exposed to dangerous tools or equipment. Make the Vehicle available if we know or have reason to believe that the use of the Vehicle poses undue risk or harm to others. Simply put, the vehicle must be safe to operate. If the brakes fail and cause a serious accident or death, the vehicle will be seized by authorities for investigation.

If an investigation determines that a vehicle malfunction or other malfunction was the cause of the accident, authorities may seek a court order to obtain vehicle maintenance records. Under these circumstances, failure to perform preventive maintenance could result in prosecution for unprevented negligent conduct.

You might need preventative maintenance for your automotive facilities and equipment!

Preventive maintenance is critical to vehicle safety, reliability, and longevity. Recent studies show that preventative maintenance appropriately done can save about 50% of the cost of repairing a vehicle when it breaks down. Therefore, it's a good idea to consider bringing your car to perform preventive maintenance.
